A couple of weeks ago my two good friends Johan and Per took me on a weekend trip to Gotland for some recreational time together. The theme for Saturday was photography so we packed the car with our photo gear and drove across the island. One of the places we visited was Furillen, and old limestone quarry.

Rösjöbadet is buzzing with people in the summer but somehow that seems very distant now.

There are times you just want to sit for yourself and think things over. And don’t want people to know who you are.This wasn’t one of those moments, but it would have been a perfect one.

According to the mythology, the Irish leprechaun’s secret hiding place for his pot of gold is at the end of the rainbow. But the fantastic phenomena has a place in most mythologies. In Norse mythology the rainbow is a bridge that connects Earth with Asgard, home of the gods. The bridge can only be used by gods and those who are killed in battle. The Karen people of Burma sees the rainbow as a painted and dangerous demon that eats children.

This rainbow that I saw at Sollerön, Mora, earlier this summer when camping with my family, is one of the brightest and strongest rainbows I’ve seen. We weren’t eaten by the demon, nor did we find the pot of gold. Still magic though.
